Super Mario Run crosses record 40 million downloads in four days

The Super Mario Run was released just last week by Nintendo for iOS devices only and it has already broken records. The game has crossed 40 million downloads in its first four days, despite many players’ complaints about the $10 (Rs. 680) cost of accessing higher levels.

Nintendo also added that in addition to Super Mario Run’s top ranking in the “free” chart of the App Store in 140 different global markets, the game is also in the top 10 for best grossing games in 100 different markets.

The Super Mario Run game can be downloaded for free, but to unlock the full game and all 24 levels, players must pay $10 (approx. Rs. 680). Currently, the game is available on the App Store in 150 countries and regions including India.

The Super Mario Run has surpassed the record of another popular game of the year, the Pokemon Go which crossed 30 million downloads in two weeks. The Super Mario Run will be available for Android in 2017.
