Sony in talks with Foxconn to assemble budget Xperia phones in India
After several smartphone companies who have announced to make smartphones in India under the “Make in India” initiative led by Indian government, now its Sony who is reported to participate in the trend.
The Japanese electronics giant, Sony is said to be in talks with the Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn to assemble its Xperia smartphones in the country. Sony will also manufacture couple of smartphones with Faxconn that fall under the sub Rs. 10,000 category, these budget smartphones will be aimed at the local market.
Sony has already started manufacturing BRAVIA televisions under the same campaign at a plant in Tamil Nadu. However, Sony is not looking at manufacturing smartphones on its own at this moment.
