Asus ZenFone Max (M1) with 18:9 display, dual cameras launched at MWC 2018

Asus has hit the headlines with their performance at the MWC’18 in Barcelona, with a barrage of smartphone launches. Asus announced the arrival of the ZenFone 5 series of smartphones, which also includes the company’s new flagship phone the Asus Zenfone 5Z. Apart from the flagship, the company also announced the arrival of the Asus ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5 Lite smartphones. It was at the same show, where the makers also launched a fourth handset called as Asus ZenFone Max (M1).

Talking about the specifications of the newly launched Asus ZenFone Max (M1), it features a 5.7-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) IPS display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D glass on top. Very much like the Asus ZenFone 5 Lite, the smartphone will be available in two variants, depending upon the differences in processors. One of the variants will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 and another will come with an octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC. The memory on the smartphone is said to be a combination of 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 256 GB via a dedicated microSD slot.

For optics, the smartphone has been provided with a dual camera set-up on the rear with 13 MP primary sensor with  f/2.0 aperture and a secondary sensor of 8 MP with wide-angle lens with 120° FOV, the dual camera setup is duly supported by an LED flash and PDAF. On the front, there is an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and 85° field of view. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth v4.0, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

For security, the smartphone has been provided with a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel and facial unlock features. For power consumption, the smartphone is dependent upon a 4000 mAh battery which according to the claims of the company, can provide battery back up for up to 36 Hrs of talk time on 3G and about 41 days of standby on 4G. Dimensionally the smartphone measures 147.3 x 8.7 x 70.9 mm and weighs 150 gms.

It is available for pre-orders for 12990 Ruble in Russia which translates to Rs. 15023 approx.
