Asus Zenfone 2 Laser starts receiving Android 6.0 update, Loses bunch of pre-loaded apps

As expected, Asus has finally started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Asus Zenfone 2 Laser, which was launched in August last year. The update is now available via OTA with version number WW_13.10.6.16_M3.6.44.

The update brings the regular changes that come with Android 6.0 however, Asus has also removed some pre-loaded apps like Omlet, Data Transfer, Photo Frame, ASUS Backup, Dr. Safety, What’s Next, Party Link and more. The reason behind doing this is still unknown, but the company has removed over 20 apps. Also Asus Email, Asus Calendar, Asus Messaging won’t pre-load in this software version. Users can use Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Messenger for relevant services.

The company hasn’t revealed the size of the update, but we expect it should be over 1GB. Generally, it takes about one week for the system to complete the auto push for OTA, still if you haven’t received the notification till now, please go to Settings ->About ->System Update, to update manually.
