Looks like all the Indian telecom operators are slashing data rates to compete with Reliance Jio. After Idea, its now Airtel who have slashed the data rates by up to 67% on 2G, 3G, and 4G data packs.
For example, Airtel’s 2G data pack priced at Rs 25 offering 100 MB data, will now offer 145 MB data. Similarly, a 4G/3G data pack for Rs 655 which offers 3 GB data for 30 days will now give 5 GB data for 30 days. Also, the Rs. 5 one day 2G data pack benefits have been increased by 48% to 30 MB.
“Added data benefits on monthly packs will boost data consumption amongst existing users by offering more value and sachet Packs will drive affordability and help bring first time users online, These refreshed data packs will help drive consumption and boost the uptake of mobile internet in the country. Given the deepening smartphone penetration and Airtel’s roll-out of data networks across India, we believe these packs will also drive affordability and bring new users online”

The revised data packs are now available across all the circles. However, the pricing and benefits may vary depending on the circle.
