Huawei P20 Lite Review:
Huawei, after launching some good & popular phones under its Honor branding, has now launched a new mid-budget smartphone under its own name, known as the Huawei P20 Lite. As evident from its name, the Huawei P20 Lite is a lighter variant of Huawei’s new flagship Huawei P20, which is also launched alongside it in India. The Huawei P20 Lite looks stunningly beautiful with its bezel-less design with glass back and has got a very premium build quality and feels like a flagship phone.
However, it has also got an iPhone X like ‘notch’ on top of the display, the areas besides the notch are used to show notification icons and time. There is also an option to hide the notch if you find it distracting or annoying, it basically turns the area beside the notch to black so you don’t feel the presence of it. The Huawei P20 Lite sports a 5.84 inches FullView display, which fits in the size of a typical 5.2 inches phone and is relatively smaller than most of its competitors. So if you are looking for a little compact phone with a modern display, it can be a good choice. The 19:9 aspect ratio Full HD+ display has good quality and good colors.
The smartphone runs on Huawei’s 2.36 GHz Octa Core HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor which is also used in most of Huawei’s budget smartphones like Honor 9 Lite, Honor 7X, and Honor 9i. It comes paired with 4 GB RAM and Mali-T830 MP2 GPU and delivers good performance for some gaming and multitasking but may lag a little with very heavy games. The Huwaei P20 Lite runs on Android 8.0 Oreo based EMUI 8.0 on top, the EMUI is beautiful, feature rich and well optimized.
Coming to the cameras, the P20 Lite features a dual rear camera setup on the back, with a 16 MP primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2 MP secondary sensor for depth and bokeh effects. The picture quality is very good, the camera produces images with natural colors and good bokeh effects. On the front lies one of the greatest highlights of the Huawei P20 Lite, where it houses a 24 MP f/2.0 aperture selfie shooter with a pixel size of 1.0 μm and 78° FOV. It captures excellent selfies and also uses AI to create beautiful portrait shots with bokeh effects.
The Huawei P20 Lite also features Facial unlock, which unlocks the phone by just looking at it, in 800 milliseconds. It also packs a good fingerprint scanner on the back. The phone comes with a hybrid slot for two sim cards or a sim and a microSD card. It comes with 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256 GB. The Huawei P20 Lite is powered by a non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Po battery, which should have been a little bigger. It comes with fast charging support and comes with a 9V/2A charger. It comes with USB Type-C for data syncing and charging, and also comes with NFC for added connectivity. With 145 grams of weight and 7.4 mm of thickness, the phone feels relatively light and compact.
