Amazon adds ‘Alexa’ virtual assistant into its main shopping app for iOS
Amazon has finally included its virtual assistant Alexa into its main iOS app and iPhone users can now talk to Alexa within the app directly. It will be available to all iPhone users from next week with an update in their Amazon app. With Alexa, the virtual assistant included in the app, it will be now easier for the users to search and shop their desired products in the app.
Alexa, in the Amazon app, will not only help users to shop and track their orders but will do much more than that. Interestingly, it will do most other things that different virtual assistants like Siri, Google Assistant, Cortana and Alexa (standalone) does. Users will be able to play music, get weather updates, get flight schedule, demand for a joke, chit- chat with it, find meanings of different words and more with Alexa on the Amazon app.
The Amazon Alexa won’t come with the door lock access feature which lets users lock or unlock their door with the help of voice commands in the Amazon shopping app. The door lock API was made available last month in the Alexa app, however it seems that we’ll have to wait for some more time for the API to be included in the Amazon app or Amazon might choose to keep this feature limited to the Alexa app. The users will still have to retain the base Alexa app in their iPhones as all the Alexa settings will be available there only.
Amazon has made things more user friendly by adding Alexa to its shopping app, the users can now avoid the hassle of typing and tapping to search a product every now and then. Hope the update will soon be available for Android users as well.
