WhatsApp introduces ‘mentions’ in its latest Beta update
Social messaging apps are competing with each other by updating their features every now and then to emerge as the best. Latest update has come from the most popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp which has rolled out the Mention feature in its Android 2.16.272 Beta update. Other social networks like Twitter and Facebook already have the feature from years.
The Mention feature comprises of ‘@’ symbol followed by the user’s name to make the conversation simple and convenient. It is very useful in group chats when we have to address one specific person. WhatsApp rolled out this feature in its Beta update for groups only as in one-to-one conversation there is only one person to chat.
WhatsApp is updating its features to make the interactions more enjoyable. Recently, WhatsApp also added the Reply feature where you can reply to a specific message by holding the message to quote and then tap on Reply symbol, to embed that particular message into the text box.
Also, WhatsApp’s Video Calling feature is one of the most awaited feature now, which can be seen coming in the near future. It will be interesting to see how WhatsApp will make its mark with number of video calling apps already present in the market. Stay tuned here for further updates.
