Xiaomi Mi 6 Leaks & Rumours round up: An exciting phone to set your eyes on!

Xiaomi Mi 6, the upcoming flagship from the Chinese manufacturer has continuously been prone to leaks and rumours from past couple of months. May it be specifications, release date or camera, every aspect is piling up with rumours and assumptions. This has created a lot of buzz and lots of people are eagerly waiting for the smartphone to arrive.

In this article, we have complied all the leaks and rumours from different sources to make you better understand of what really is going on with the Xiaomi Mi 6. Let’s look at the different aspects one by one.

RELEASE DATE & PRICE:

According to the sources, the smartphone is most probably to be launched on 16th April this year, if not 16th then the phone could come out later during the first half of 2017. The Mi 6 is expected to be launched in two different variants where the prices may vary starting from Rs. 19,999 to Rs. 29,999 depending upon the variants.

PROCESSOR:

Specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 6 are something that created a lot of buzz, especially the processor. Every rumoured report had a different story to tell. In initial rumours the smartphone was reported to hold a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC however, recent rumours claim that the device will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC due to shortage of Qualcomm 835 chip-sets because of Samsung purchasing the entire stock for its upcoming Galaxy S8 & S8+.

According to a new report from China, the smartphone will be first launched with Snapdragon 821 and then with the Snapdragon 835 SoC as it becomes available. Some reports have also pointed out on inclusion of the MediaTek Helio X30 processor. There are also rumours of the processor being clocked at 2.4 GHz, 2.5 GHz and 2.7 GHz. The recently leaked image (above) from China claims it to be 2.7 GHz.

DISPLAY:

The Mi 6 is rumoured to be launched in two variants, one with Full-HD 1080p display and another variant with Quad-HD 2K OLED display. The screen size will be 5.5 inches and will vary in flat screen and curved edges depending upon the variants. An earlier report also suggested that the smartphone might sport a 5.2 inch (2560 x 1440 pixel) LCD display with 2.5D screen and ceramic body.

DESIGN:

According to a Chinese e-commerce website, the design language of the Mi 6 will be similar to that of the Mi 5, i.e, a metal unibody construction with glass on the front and rear. Also as per latest reports, the smartphone might have a ceramic design as well; the phone might come with a ceramic back and with an on-screen home button. Nothing more regarding the design has come out yet, leaving clues for our imagination.

CAMERA:

The Mi 6 is rumoured to have a dual camera setup, the rumours are quite natural as every flagship phone is coming with a Dual camera setup these days. But, initial rumours also suggested that smartphone will bear a 12 MP Rear camera with Sony IMX386 sensor and an 8 MP front camera with IMX268 auto-focus sensor, same as that of the Mi note 2. Few different reports also claim that the camera specs differ from 4 MP to 5 MP for the front camera and 12 MP to 13 MP for the rear camera. Whatever the numbers be, one thing is for sure, the Cameras on the Mi 6 will be excellent, as one can take it for granted that the phone will better its predecessor Mi 5, which is already pretty good in the camera department.

OTHER SPECIFICATIONS:

The other rumoured specifications include RAM and internal storage which may vary from 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage to 6 GB RAM and 256 GB storage depending upon the variants. The phone is said to hold a 4,000 mAh battery and will run on Android 7.0 (Nougat) with Xiaomi’s own MIUI 8.3.14 on top.
