Gionee F103 introduced as company’s first smartphone under ‘Make in India’
Gionee, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, had announced the Gionee F103 in September this year and today, it has introduced the same phone as its first smartphone under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. It is quite amusing that Gionee has launched its first ‘Made in India’ smartphone so fast, as it’s hardly a month when they confirmed their participation in this great initiative.
We already know that Gionee has partnered with Foxconn to manufacture its phone in India and the Gionee F103 will be assembled at Foxconn’s Sri City plant, Andhra Pradesh. The company is also planning to export the phones manufactured in India to other countries.
The Gionee F103 comes with 5 inch HD screen (1280 X 720 pixels) IPS Dragontrail display with pixel density of 294ppi. The smartphone is powered by 64-bit Quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM. It has 16 GB of inbuilt memory out of which 9.50 GB is free for end-user. It also supports for external storage expansion via microSD card (up to 32 GB).
The Gionee F103 sports an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash which supports some features like Face beauty, Horizontal Panorama, Geo-tagging, Touch focus, 20 snaps in one click, etc. It also has a 5 megapixel of selfie snapper with HD video recording capabilities. The smartphone runs on Amigo 3.0 based on Android Lollipop.
It is a dual sim (GSM+CDMA) smartphone that supports 4G connectivity. Apart from that, it also features connectivity options like 3G, Wifi-802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 and micro USB. The smartphone is backed by 2400mAh battery. It measures 143×70.3×7.95mm and weighs 136.6 g.
Gionee F103 is priced at Rs 9,999 and will be available in Pearl White and Black color variants via Flipkart.
It is a good thing that Gionee has launched its ‘Made in India’ smartphone so soon, but given its price for the phone, it seems quite expensive if we look at the competitors.
