Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro Review:

Asus has launched its new Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro in India, which is one of the first phones in its Zenfone 4 series in the country. The Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro comes with the best specifications, the Zenfone Selfie series has ever seen. It comes in a very premium metallic unibody design which is slim (6.85 mm) and light weight (147 grams) and feels excellent in hands. The build quality is very good and the two colors, Deep Sea Black and Sunlight Gold look beautiful. The 5.5 inches AMOLED display with 500 nits brightness has excellent quality, the viewing angles are good and the colors are bright and natural.

It also comes with a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass. The phone is powered by the 2.0 GHz Octa core Snapdragon 625 processor, which is a popular and proven performer, it was also used in the Zenfone 3 also. It comes with Adreno 506 GPU and 4 GB RAM, and handles daily usage smoothly and plays games well without heating and is also battery efficient. However, the highlight of the phone is its camera department, which packs some massive number, obviously justifying its name. Let’s talk about the front camera first. The dual camera setup comprises of a primary 24 MP camera with Sony’s flagship IMX362 dual pixel image sensor having f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 5 MP camera with 120° wide-angle.

The front cameras are also accompanied with LED flash. The selfies come out really excellent and have good details, natural colors and wide-angle. It has one of the best selfie cameras in the market. The camera app also offers a Portrait mode, Beautify mode, Selfie Panorama, GIF Animation and lots of modes and filters. The 16 MP rear camera again with a Sony sensor is a very good shooter as well. It also supports a full Pro mode. Both the front and rear cameras can record 4K UHD video at 30 fps and support 3-axis EIS (electronic image stabilization).

It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with company’s updated ZenUI 4.0, which now packs some very useful features like Twin apps, Safeguard, Themes and Lock Screen Wallpapers and looks like it is taking the Xiaomi’s MIUI way but, I still feel the UI, visually in particular, needs a lot of work and needs to becomes simpler, cleaner and minimalist. Also, instead of getting even more customised and heavier, it should move more towards the stock Android which will allow faster updates. But, keeping these few things aside, the ZenUI 4.0 now packs more useful features and is a fine custom skin which runs well.

The Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro embeds a very fast fingerprint scanner on the home button in the front. It comes with 64 GB of onboard storage which is expandable up to 2 TB via microSD card, it additionally provides 100 GB of free storage on Google Drive for 1 year. It has two dedicated sim slots and the phone supports 4G. The phone is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery, thanks to the processor, it delivers good battery for one day use. It supports fast charging and comes with a 5V / 2A, 10W charger. It also comes with DTS Headphone:X, which provides 7.1 channel virtual surround sound over the headphones.
