Xiaomi’s new sub-brand to be reportedly called ‘Lanmi’, could soon launch its first smartphone dubbed Lanmi X1

A few days back it was reported that Xiaomi is planning to launch a new sub-brand to take on its competitors in the offline market. Although not much was known about this sub-brand, a new leak now reveals what it might be called. Not only this, but the leak also gives information about the first smartphone that will be launching under the sub-brand.

As reported by GizmoChina the leaks appeared on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo according to which the new sub-brand will be named as ‘Lanmi’. It is made up of two different words ‘Lan’ and ‘Mi’ which apparently means Blue Rice in Chinese. Lanmi is expected to launch by the end of this month and will mainly focus on the offline market to compete against companies like Oppo and Vivo.

Apart from this, the report, as mentioned earlier also reveals information about the first smartphone from Lanmi. The report, citing a blogger on Weibo states that the first smartphone to launch under Lanmi brand will be called as the Lanmi X1.

As per the report, the Xiaomi Lanmi X1 will be most probably launched in two different variants i.e the Lanmi X1 and the Lanmi X1 Plus or Lanmi X1 Pro. The smartphones will again be available in 4 diffident variants each depending upon the RAM and internal storage. The 4 variants as per the leak include, a 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant, a 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant, a 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant and finally a 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant.

The Lanmi X1 is expected to sport a 5.5-inch display with FHD+ (2160 x 1080 pixel) resolution and will be powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC. It will also hold dual Sony IMX362 or IMX368 sensors on the rear as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Talking about the other variant, it is speculated to sport a 5.5-inch Full-HD display, the same Snapdragon 660 SoC and same rear camera configuration but will have its fingerprint sensor in front.

Except this, nothing much is known regarding the devices, but we wont have to wait for too long as the smartphone is expected to be unveiled as early as this month. As far as the pricing is concerned, following the tradition of Redmi and Mi, Xiaomi is also expected to keep the prices of Lanmi series phones very competitive and budget friendly.

We’ll be back with more on this, stay connected!
