Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Review:

Xiaomi has launched the new Redmi Note 4 which is the successor to its massively popular Redmi Note 3 which is the no. 1 best selling online smartphone in India so, the Redmi Note 4 has very big shoes to fill in, let’s see what all it has got. Starting with the design, it is built on a similar design language like the Redmi Note 3 with few differences like a 2.5D curved glass on front and a better back. The excellent build quality is one of the best at its price, it also feels nice and premium in hands.

The phone comes with a 5.5 inches Full HD screen with good display quality. Sadly, it misses out on Gorilla Glass screen protection. It runs on the 2.0 GHz Octa Core Snapdragon 625 Processor and comes in 2 GB RAM variants with Adreno 506 GPU. It obviously doesn’t deliver performance like the Snapdragon 650 on the Redmi Note 3 but it is still pretty much capable of handling everything smoothly, it also handles games well without much heating. On the camera front, it packs a 13 MP rear camera which is a better shooter than the 16 MP rear camera of the Redmi Note 3, it has good picture quality with good colors and details. The 5 MP front camera is also good, it comes with various beautification modes which enhance the selfies.

It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8.0 running on top, the company has promised the Nougat update in the coming few weeks. The MIUI 8.0 is a beautiful ROM with lots of customisations, it also offers lots of useful features like Dual Apps (two accounts of apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, etc.), Second Space (creates a new partition in the phone which is protected with password/fingerprint and can be used to install completely different sets of apps and also has a separate gallery, basically first space and second space behave like two different phones), although many manufacturers provide features like second space but in Xiaomi’s MIUI it is perfectly executed, it’s fast and easy to access, the MIUI also offers quick ball. In our opinion, among all the ROMs from different Android manufacturers the MIUI is the most feature rich and by far the best ROM out there, it adds a lot of value to the phone.

The phone packs a good fingerprint scanner and also includes Infrared Blaster which allows you to control your TV, AC, music system and many other electronic appliances, it is a very good feature and comes handy. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. It packs 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB via a hybrid slot. Coming to another good thing about the phone, it is backed by a 4100 mAh battery which delivers excellent battery backup. Disappointingly, the Redmi Note 4 misses out on fast charging which few other competitors offer at this price, it is not a deal breaker but it would have made things sweeter.
