Xiaomi Redmi 1S – Specifications, Price & Review

    Categories: Overviews

Key Features: 4.7-inch screen, 1.6 GHz Quad Core Snapdragon processor, 1 GB RAM, Android 4.3, 8-megapixel rear camera, Dual-Sim.

After the huge success of Xiaomi Mi3, Xiaomi has launched its second phone in India the Xiaomi Redmi 1S at 5,999 Rs. It is packed with great specifications and Xiaomi has priced it at such a low price that it almost becomes impossible to buy a new phone under 10,000 Rs. without considering this device, this phone has redefined the pricing strategy. So, let’s find out how good the Xiaomi Redmi 1S actually is.

Let’s take a look at the performance first. The phone is powered by a powerful 1.6 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor along with 1 GB of RAM. It promises to deliver very good performance but its performance is not exactly what is expected and sometimes you may experience a little lag. Also while game play it may heat up. But the price at which the phone is available, these two things can be avoided.

The screen size of the phone is 4.7 inches which is very convenient to use. Also, the exciting thing about the display is, it has and 1280 x 720 HD resolution which gives a decent 312 ppi density. This makes the display very good. The phone also has a Dragontrail glass protection which is very good and protects the phone from most scratches.

The phone has a 8 MP rear camera which is very good when you are buying a phone at just six thousand rupees. It has a 1.6 MP Rear camera and the phone also consists a LED Flash. It has 8 GB internal storage, which is expandable upto 64 GB.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1S runs on top of Xiaomi’s highly customized MiUi v5 based on Android 4.3 Jelly Beans. The phone also supports Dual-Sim. It has a 2000mAh changeable Li-ion battery which can last a day which is decent.

Despite of having great specifications, the phone has some shortcomings. The performance of the phone is good but, it can lag for high-end games and high multitasking so don’t expect very high performance. Also, the design of the phone is not very attractive. But not to forget, it is available at a very very low price.

The phone offers very exciting features at such a low price which no other phone can offer so, overall the phone is a very good buy and offers you great things at such a low price and it is a very important thing as instead of spending 10,000 Rs. you can spend only 6,000 Rs and can save 4,000 Rs. which is a nice amount considering the ever-changing smartphone technology.

So our verdict is, if you are looking for a phone which has great specifications and great user experience go with other phones which are priced higher but if you are looking for a low budget phone, then the Xiaomi Redmi 1S can be a great choice. Many people compare the Redmi 1S with the Moto G which is completely wrong, the Redmi 1S is a great choice for the low price but if you need a really good device and can spend some more money then, going with some other phone will be a good choice.

  • I am not comparing Redmi 1s & Moto G 2nd Gen. But I have 2 questions.
    1. What is the difference between Dragontrail glass protection & Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection? Which one is better?
    2. How is the camera quality compared to other 8MP phones like Moto G?
    Thanks.
