Should You Buy?
Overall, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is a very beautiful smartphone which catches your attention even in a small glimpse with its bezel-less ceramic body. It is also packed with equally powerful hardware and delivers top of the line performance, and also comes with beautiful, well-optimised software and lots of features. However, it does not offer dual cameras or a big selfie shooter like the competition and takes a back seat when it comes to the camera department. So, if cameras are not your top priority it can be a great buy.

Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2 is its second generation bezel-less flagship smartphone. It comes in a bezel-less design with just a slim bezel in the bottom which also houses the front camera, it is a weird position although. The phone comes in a ceramic back, which looks very beautiful and feels smooth and premium in hands, at the same time, it is slippery and fingerprint magnet as well. But the overall build and design of the phone is pretty solid and beautiful.
It packs in a big 5.99 inches screen with FHD+ display having 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The display quality is good with nice viewing angles. The Mi Mix 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s 2017 flagship Octa Core Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.45 GHz. It comes paired with 6 GB RAM and Adreno 540 GPU. The performance of the phone is excellent and it handles everything thrown at it with ease and at the same time being battery efficient.
It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9, which is a well optimised Android skin with lots of improved features. Xiaomi’s MIUI is the best customised Android ROM according to us, it is fast, beautiful, customisable and feature rich. And with the MIUI 9, the UI has become even more beautiful, and one thing which many would love, it comes with a huge collection of wallpapers and every time you pick up your phone, you get amused with a new beautiful wallpaper on the lock screen (the lock screen wallpapers can be set to change in every 15 mins, 1 hour, 3 hours or a day).
When it comes to the cameras, despite the trend of dual cameras, the Mi Mix 2 features a single 12 MP camera on the rear with f/2.0 aperture lens and OIS, the picture quality is very good in day light conditions. The unusually placed camera on the front is of 5 MP, it is a decent one but stands nowhere close to its competitors which offer a bigger and better selfie shooter at the same or less price. It is dual sim phone with 128 GB of internal storage, which is great but it doesn’t come with a microSD card slot.
The Mi Mix 2 is backed by a non-removable 3400 mAh Lithium-Ion battery which supports fast charging with a 9V/2A charger, it delivers good battery backup. The fingerprint scanner placed on the back is easily accessible and is very fast. It comes with USB Type-C for data syncing and charging.
