Sony Xperia C4 Dual : Does it Justify the Rs. 29,490 Price Tag?
Sony’s latest addition to the Xperia Series is Sony Xperia C4 Dual, which is a Selfie-Focused Smartphone. Pricing of a smartphone is a very important factor as it is directly related with its sale. The Sony Xperia C4 has been priced at Rs. 29,490. Now the features of this smartphone will decide if this pricing justifies the smartphone or not. So, let’s have a look at its features.
Sony Xperia C4 is a Dual-Sim smartphone with the similar flagship design of Sony. The smartphone is powered by a 64-bit 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor which is coupled with Mali GPU and 2 GB of RAM. The performance of the phone seems to be good as per the given processor and RAM. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display, which is backed by the firm’s Bravia Engine 2 and sports a Super Vivid mode.
The Sony Xperia C4 houses a 13-megapixel Auto-Focus rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera which includes the company’s Exmor R sensor alongside an LED flash and a 25mm wide-angle lens. The front camera is a gift for the Selfie Lovers. The Xperia C4 Dual includes 16 GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via micro SD card up to massive 128 GB. The smartphone is backed by a 2600 mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 12 hours 47 minutes of talk time and up to 682 hours of standby time. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
At this price point, Sony Xperia C4 has competition from its own family – Sony Xperia Z2 and some more big names like Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Moto X (2nd Gen) and HTC One M8 Eye. Xperia C4 lacks in some areas like processor and RAM when comparing with above smartphones which can make it a Second Choice for buyers. Although the Specifications and Performance of Xperia C4 is nice but the pricing may be a crucial factor.
Although it offers the Premium design and feel of Sony, the smartphone does not seems to justify this high-price as Sony already has the Sony Xperia Z2 in this price range which is a better option. So, launching this smartphone at such a high-price seems to be an irrelevant decision from Sony. If this smartphone was launched in competition with HTC desire 826 or at a sub 25k range it would have been more successful. The smartphone is costly as per the specifications provided and this might turn out costly for Sony as well.
The smartphone will be in hands of customers very soon starting from Friday 19th June 2015 at Sony Centers, Xperia stores, and major electronics stores across the country. Eventually the reviews of customers will decide the fate of this smartphone. Let’s wait and see how this smartphone gets going in the smartphone market.
