Smartron, the Sachin Tendulkar backed startup has recently launched its third and cheapest smartphone yet, called as the Smartron t.phone P. The biggest highlight of the phone is its massive 5,000 mAh battery, which delivers excellent battery backup. Moreover, it also comes with ‘Reverse Charge Technology’ which lets you use the phone as a powerbank and charger other devices, which is a good feature and can come in handy at times.
A great thing is that, despite packing a huge battery it doesn’t feel bulky, it weighs at 160 grams and has 8.9mm thickness which is good considering the size of the battery. It comes in a metallic body with plastic trims on the top and bottom of the back for antennas. The phone is well built and also looks good. It sports a 5.2 inches HD display, which has decent quality. The Smartron t.phone P is powered by a 1.4 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and Adreno 505 GPU. The performance is good and it handles daily usage and multitasking smoothly, and can also manage some gaming.
It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with almost Stock Android UI, having little customisations from Smartron. The company focuses a lot on the development of its software, which it calls as tronX cloud platform, and provides 1000 GB Free Cloud Storage with the phone. It features a 13 MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, which is a decent shooter in daylight conditions but struggles with noise like most of the budget smartphone, in low/artificial light conditions.
On the front, it gets a 5 MP selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture and clicks decent selfies as well. It is a dual sim phone which comes with hybrid slots. It packs in 32 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card and you also get the 1000 GB free cloud storage. It also packs in a fingerprint scanner on the back, which is accurate.
