Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ to launch in India tomorrow, to be exclusively sold on Flipkart
Samsung is all set for the launch of its latest flagship Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones in India on 19th April. Both the phones will be sold exclusively on Flipkart and the e-commerce website has already started putting banners announcing its arrival. Although neither Samsung nor Flipkart have revealed the prices or shipping date of the Galaxy S8 & S8+, but they are expected to go up for pre-orders on Flipkart from tomorrow itself. It is clear that Flipkart will be the exclusive online partner but whether the phones will be sold in offline markets or not, remains to be seen from tomorrow’s launch event.
Samsung’s latest flagships Galaxy S8 and S8+ have been quite a hit already with their exciting design and features. As per the company, the phones have got a great response in countries like USA and South Korea and they are expecting the same in rest of the markets including India. And we already know that Samsung fans in the country are eagerly waiting for the smartphones to hit the shelves in India.
To recall the specifications, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have a lot to offer, the Galaxy S8 sports a 5.8-inch QHD+ (1440 x 2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display where as the Galaxy S8+ bears a 6.2-inch QHD+ (1440 x 2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display. Both the smartphones contain an end-to-end bezel-less design which the company calls ‘Infinity display’.
Both the devices launched in the US have got the world’s first 10nm AP 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor under the hood where as for the other markets (India included), the smartphones will be armoured with the Exynos 8895 octa-core processor clocked at 2.35 GHz. Both the smartphones come with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage which can be further extended up to 256 GB via microSD card. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ run on Samsung’s new UI based on Android 7.0 Nougat and hold 3,000 mAh and 3,500 mAh batteries respectively.
In the imaging department, both the smartphones feature a 12 MP ‘Dual pixel’ rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilisation. Also, there is an 8 MP f/1.7 aperture front camera with auto-focus and 80 degree wide angle lens. One of the highlight for the devices was the debut of Bixby Virtual assistant and Bluetooth 5.0.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ will hit the Indian market tomorrow and it is only after that, when we’ll get to know how India users respond to the smartphones with respect to their price. Samsung expects the devices to do even better than the predecessors Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Apart from the launch, we’ll also come to know what more offers Samsung got for India tomorrow.
