Should You Buy?
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is a pretty balanced phone with beautiful looks and decent cameras. However, ‘Samsung Pay’ really makes it stand out from the crowd, the inclusion of Samsung Pay in a phone around 20000 Rs. means it will be in the reach of more people in India, and Samsung Pay in itself makes the phone a worthy buying option. Also, it ticks most of the boxes right and there’s not much we can complain about. We can surely demand more performance at this price but, considering it comes from one of the most trusted and reputable brands and brings an exclusive feature, we can not call it overpriced as well.

Samsung has launched its new Galaxy J7 Pro in India, which packs some decent features and looks like the best smartphone they have launched under the affordable ‘J series’ yet. The phone packs a beautiful and premium metal unibody design with 2.5D curved glass on top, and holds rounded corners around the edges which makes it comfortable to hold. The build quality is also very good.
The greatest thing in the phone is the revolutionary ‘Samsung Pay’, which enables you to store your card information in your phone and pay wirelessly. It works with almost all the POS machines in India and to make a payment, all you need to do is, swipe up from the bottom of the screen, use fingerprint or pin to authorise the transaction and place the phone against the POS machine and your payment is done securely.
The Galaxy J7 Pro holds a 5.5 inches Full HD Super AMOLED display with 401 ppi pixel density and has a very good display quality. Coming to the performance, it is powered by the 1.6 GHz octa core Exynos 7870 processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and Mali-T830 MP2 GPU and delivers good performance for normal usage as well as for some gaming. However, hardcore gamers have much better options available at this price.
The Galaxy J7 Pro sports a 13 MP rear camera with f1.7 lens and LED flash and has a good picture quality, low light photos are decent as well. It also packs a 13 MP front camera with f1.9 lens and LED flash as well, the selfies come out good too. With the Galaxy J7 Pro, Samsung has also introduced a new feature called ‘Social Camera’ into its camera app. The Social Camera packs lots of features like ‘Instant Share’ which lets you share the picture with different social/messaging apps and marked contacts in WhatsApp, it also includes ‘Instant Edit’ which lets you add stickers and effects and you can share it instantly. The camera app also includes lots of popular and fun live stickers and live filters also, so it gives a complete set of features for selfie lovers.
The phone runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat with Samsung’s new UX which comes with less bloatware and is a lighter version of the Touchwiz UI. It looks better and has some added features and themes support. It has got a decent fingerprint scanner situated in the home button below the screen. The J7 Pro comes with IP54 certification and is splash proof.
It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. It packs 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card, thankfully, uses a dedicated slot. A non-removable Li-Ion 3600 mAh battery powers the phone and delivers good battery backup, sadly it doesn’t include fast charging which is a must at this price.
