GSamsung had made the headlines in December when it announced the arrival of their much-awaited mid-range phones the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ in Europe. The announcement had set in motion a new waiting period before the handsets were launched in the various markets. Though the official unveiling was done in Europe, there was no official announcement about the price of the devices. Now with the announcement coming in that the premium version of the two phones, the Samsung Galaxy A8+ is about to be launched as an Amazon Exclusive in India soon. But just like before, there has been no official announcement made in regards to the price. This fact came to light when a new page appeared on Amazon.in asking enthusiasts to enroll for the announcement and subsequent sale of the smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy A8+ and A8 (2018) have been recently launched in Vietnam and that too with the official price tag 10.990.000 VNĐ for the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and 13.490.000 VNĐ for Samsung Galaxy A8+. Going by that price, the expected price of the Samsung Galaxy A8+ in India should be around ₹ 37,696 (approximately). The Indian prices might be a little bit different, given that the taxation policies in the country are different from Vietnam.
Looking at the specs on paper, the device seems fairly impressive. The Samsung Galaxy A8+ is equipped with a 6-inch Full HD+ (2220×1080 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity display, with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Added to that, the A8+ will feature the much talked about, first of its kind dual front cameras created by Samsung, in 16 MP + 8 MP sensors with f/1.9 aperture and Live Focus. If the claims of the manufacturer are to be believed, this new camera allows the user to adjust the bokeh blur effects in the background after the picture has been shot. Equally impressive is the 16 MP camera on the rear which comes with larger f/1.7 aperture accompanied by High CRI LED Flash, 1.12µm pixel size, 1/2.8” sensor size, 78° field of vision and 4:3 sensor ratio.
For operating efficiency, the smartphone is dependent on Exynos 7885 Octa-core (2.2GHz Dual + 1.6GHz Hexa) processor. Depending on the memory configuration, the smartphone will be available in two variants, of 4 GB/32 GB and 6 GB/64 GB, expandable up to 256 GB via microSD. The phone will come loaded with Android 7.1 Nougat, which is a bit disappointing, but most probably it should get a brand new Android 8.0 Oreo update soon. The phone has an IP68 ingress rating, so it will be dust and water resistant for conditions of submersion, up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for about 30 minutes.
Talking about the sensors, the Samsung Galaxy A8+ is equipped with an accelerometer, barometer, fingerprint sensor, gyro sensor, a geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, proximity sensor and RGB Light Sensors. For security, it makes use of the usual, pattern, pin, password lock, fingerprint scanner and face recognition. And above all else, it comes loaded with Samsung’s new voice assistance called Bixby. Talking about the build of the phone, with the 6-inch screen the Samsung Galaxy A8+ comes with a glass and metal body, measures around 159.9 x 75.7 x 8.3 mm and weighs around 191 g. For power consumption, it is dependent upon a 3,500 mAh battery with fast charging.
