There is a lot of excitement and buzz about Samsung’s upcoming flagship Galaxy S9, but it will be launching somewhere around March 2018 only. Until then, we can look at the sudden surge in the number of online leaks about two of Samsung’s Galaxy A series smartphones, the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018), suggesting an upcoming launch at The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018. Here’s everything we know about the possible specifications of the upcoming smartphones, so far.
By the looks of it, the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) may have a metal built, with glass cover. If the leaked images are true, then the phones might come with an Infinity display as previously seen in Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8, which will make them the first Samsung smartphones to get an Infinity display apart from its flagship phones. According to a leaked youtube video, the Galaxy A8 (2018) features a Full-HD+ (1080 x 2220 pixels) 18.5:9 Super AMOLED display with rounded edges. The screen size on Galaxy A8 (2018) is expected to be 5.5-inch, whereas the Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) will sport a slightly larger 6-inch display and might come with IP68 rating, which means the device might be dust and water resistant.
From the previous leaks, it has already been ascertained that the new smartphones might come with 16 MP + 8 MP selfie camera and a 16 MP rear camera, with the dual selfie cameras offering portrait mode for selfies. The smartphones will feature a 6 GB/ 64 GB configuration and will run on an Octa-Core Exynos 7885 chipset. Apart from this, it’s also known that the phones will run on Android 7.1 Nougat, and will feature the Samsung UX. The Galaxy A8 (2018) is expected to run on a 3000mAh battery, while the Plus variant might come with a 3,500mAh battery.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A8 in its domestic market of South Korea back in 2016 which was priced at KRW 649,000 which is somewhere around Rs. 39,000 (approx.). The 2018’s Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8 Plus which might come with improved specs, might be priced somewhere around the same price. But as of now, all that can be said is that everything one has heard or read, is based on leaks and rumors and we might have to wait for an official confirmation from the manufacturer in the coming year.
