Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 653, 626 and 427 chipsets with dual-camera support

The American chip making company Qualcomm has unveiled three new processors at the ongoing 4G/5G summit at The Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong. These new processors are an upgrade in the Snapdragon 600 and 400 series, named as Snapdragon 653, 626 and 427 respectively.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 is an upgrade from the 652, the 626 from the 625 and lastly, the 427 from the 425. All three processors are powered by X9 LTE chip with CAT 7 modem. They support the company’s new Quick Charge 3.0 technology which promises to offer power delivery, which will be four times faster than the conventional method. All three processors come with Dual-camera support. They include enhanced voice services as well, which will offer Ultra HD VoLTE calls.

Each processor has a number of unique capabilities that deliver differentiating value for OEMs and users. The Snapdragon 653 processor is said to support 10 percent higher performance compared to the 652, due to a CPU speed increase up to 1.95 GHz. The RAM support has been doubled to 8 GB, in an effort to improve multitasking and overall system performance.

On the other hand, the Snapdragon 626 processor is said to deliver CPU speeds of up to 2.2 GHz, for as much as a 10 percent performance improvement over the 625. It also implements Qualcomm’s TruSignal antenna boost technology, designed to improve signal reception, especially in congested areas.

Lastly, the Snapdragon 427 will be the first processor in the Snapdragon 400 family to offer TruSignal antenna tuning.

The Snapdragon 653 and 626 processors are expected to be commercially available by the end of this year while the Snapdragon 427 chipset based smartphones will be seen on devices in early 2017.
