Motorola has launched its new budget smartphone Moto C Plus in India. It is a bigger variant of the Moto C which is also recently announced in India. The Moto C Plus comes with a polycarbonate body unlike most other budget smartphones which offer a more premium metal body, however, the phone is sturdy and the build quality is good. It sports a 5 inches HD display which has good quality for its price.
The phone runs on the 1.3 GHz quad core MediaTek MT6737 processor coupled with 2 GB RAM and Mali-T720MP2 GPU. The performance is good and lag free for day to day usage and some gaming however, heavy users and heavy gamers should stay away from it and go for the more powerful Redmi 4. The Moto C Plus packs an 8 MP rear camera with ƒ/2.2 aperture, 720p video recording and LED flash, the picture quality is good in day light however, average in low light conditions.
Surprisingly, it packs just a 2 MP front camera, at these times, 5 MP has become the minimum standard and almost all the budget phones come with a minimum of 5 MP front camera so, Moto’s move can be deal breaking for some. The selfie quality is average to be honest but, a good thing is, it includes an LED flash for the selfie camera as well so, low light and night selfies come out good. It runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat with stock Android UI, which is great and rare for a budget smartphone.
Motorola has included some helpful actions like twist the phone to open camera, chop twice to turn on flashlight, etc. and it also includes the split screen mode. It is backed by a 4000 mAh battery which is removable and provides great battery backup, however, due to the big battery, the phone weighs 162 grams and has a thickness of 10mm and feels a bit bulkier. It doesn’t support fast charging and takes around 2 hours for a full charge.
It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support and comes with dedicated slots for the two sim cards and the microSD card, again a good thing as most phones come with hybrid slot these days. The phone doesn’t include a fingerprint scanner, a feature which some of its top competitors like the Redmi 4 offer at the same price. The Moto C Plus packs 16 GB of onboard storage which is expandable upto 32 GB via a microSD card.
