The New Moto X or the Moto X (2nd Gen) was among the most awaited phones this year. Before its launch there were so many leaks, rumors and speculations about the designs and the specifications of the phones that made sure that the upcoming phone will be the best ever from Motorola. And the Moto X (2nd Gen) is now available to buy in India so, let’s take a look at what it has to offer and how good it actually is for your hard-earned money.
The first thing you notice in the phone is its amazing design specially the two big circles on the back of the phone. One circle consists of the camera lens which is also surrounded by a beautiful ring which consists of Dual LED flash, this design concept is really awesome. The second similar sized circle on the back consists of the very beautiful Motorola logo which is now even bigger. Also, the back comes in many variants like Bamboo, Leather and more. Not only the back but, the front of the phones also looks beautiful with dual speakers present at the top and bottom. Overall, the phone has a very stylish and attractive design.
The phone has some major differences from the old Moto X be it in the performance, size and design. And for the first time the Flagship phone from Motorola has come in line with the other top phones in the world like the Sony Z3, LG G3, Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 & the Apple iPhone 6 Plus. Let’s start with the performance.
The Moto X (2nd Gen) runs on the latest and very powerful Quad-core 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Processor. This is the same processor on which most of the Android Flagships run. The phone is super fluid and buttery smooth, everything on the phone just runs very smoothly and you just can’t imagine a lag. The phone comes with 2 GB RAM which is very good and the phone can handle heavy multitasking easily.
The Moto X (2nd Gen) comes with a bigger screen size of 5.2 inches than the old Moto X. The phone has the AMOLED touchscreen which is very good, it has the screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels which turn out the pixel density of 424 ppi which is pretty good. The display is very good, its sharp, crisp and clear and it has good viewing angles.
Another department where Motorola has improved much is the Camera of the phone. It has a 13 MP Rear Camera, 2 MP Front Camera & Dual LED Ring Flash. The phone’s camera is very good, it can take decent images with good colors, contrast and saturation levels. The rear camera can record videos at 2160p @ 30 fps which is very good.
For storage the New Moto X comes with two variants 16 GB & 32 GB internal memory and it still misses on the expandable storage. But, it’s very disappointing that Motorola has only launched the 16 GB variant in India currently.
The phone currently runs on the very latest version of Android which is 4.4.4 Kitkat out of the box. And the phone will get the Android L update very fast and it will continue to get the Android updates as long as he hardware will support it. One good thing about Motorola is the company has limited number of devices so its easier for them to be committed with speedy Android updates.
The phone comes with some good features. It carries forward the legacy of the old Moto X and now comes with improved voice controls which now lets you use the apps like Facebook and Whatsapp with voice commands, that’s something great and a good experience. Another feature Motorola has added is the 4-mic technology which basically reduces the background noise to a great level and gives you an enhanced calling experiences on crowded places.
Okay, but Motorola has missed on a few things also like, the phone has only one Sim Card slot. Another thing is with the battery, the phone sports a Li-Ion 2300 mAh battery, but as the size of the phone is increased, Motorola had chanced to include an even bigger battery and give an amazing battery backup which most phones in the world fail to do, even the top Flagship phones. But the 2300 mAh battery is still enough to give you power to run the phone all day.
Overall, the phone is Great! It offers one of the best Android experiences with good design and amazing performance. The phone offers the Flagship features at a very low price than other companies. It is a great value for money phone and can be a very good buying decision.
