Key Features: 4.5-inch screen, 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor, Android 4.4.4, 5-megapixel rear camera, Android One, Regular Android Updates & Pure Android Experience.
So, the Google Android One is here. The clear intention with which the Android One phones have launched in India is to empower people with best Android experience without spending too much money. In India, Google has partnered with three Indian Manufacturers Micromax, Karbonn & Spice to launch the first Android One phones. With the Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V & Spice Dream Uno are also launched. So, let’s take a look at the Micromax Canvas A1.
The first thing you notice about the Micromax Canvas A1 is, it doesn’t look and feel cheap. It has good design and build quality and it has a unique design at the back which includes the rear camera and the flash in a beautiful bezel.
The phone is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad Core Mediatek processor and 1 GB of RAM. This gives the phone enough power to run very smoothly and lag-free. The screen size of the phone is 4.5 inches which is a sweet-spot and will be perfect for many. Although the screen resolution of the phone is just 480 x 854 pixels but, its not bad and you can’t expect anything better at just 6,500 Rs. The phone gives a pixel density of 218 pixels per inch.
The phone runs on the most latest version of Android which is Android Kitkat 4.4.4 and the most important thing is that, being an Android One device, it will continue to get the future Android updates just like the Nexus Devices. So, your phone will be always new and exciting.
The phone has a 5 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera and you also get an LED Flash. Both the cameras are good. But one thing you need to click images is the external memory card. The phone has 4 GB internal memory which is used for installing apps and to save your camera photos and videos, you will need an external memory card. Well, its not a big deal as the microSD cards are available at really cheap prices.
The phone supports dual SIM Cards in the Micro- Sim format. Also, the phone has almost all the essential features. The one area where the phone could have been much better is the battery life. The phone comes with a small 1700 mAh Li-Ion battery.
Overall, its a very good smartphone and giving a very tough competition to the phones like the Moto E, Xiaomi Redmi 1S & the Asus Zenfone 4. It not only gives competition to these popular phones but the Android One tag gives the phone an edge over these phones in the 6,000 – 7,000 Rs. price range.
Also, when compared to the other two Android One phones, the Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream Uno, all the three have almost same specifications and they almost look same from the front. But, Micromax is the biggest company among all three so trusting Micromax is better than the other two brands, also the service of Micromax is better than Karbonn & Spice. So, it’s a beautiful thing to buy if you are looking for a good smartphone around 6,000 Rs.
