Lenovo launched the K8 Note just last month and now they have launched a smaller variant of it, called as the Lenovo K8 Plus. Like the K8 Note, the K8 Plus also packs some worthy specs and retains most of the good things of the K8 Note. Let’s start with the design first, the K8 Plus packs a metal body with little plastic on top and bottom of the back. It looks exactly similar to the K8 Note and also feels nice and premium in hands.
The K8 Plus comes with a smaller 5.2 inches screen, which makes the phone comfortable to use, it has got rounded edges and a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front, which again make the phone comfortable to hold. Summing up, it has sturdy, good looking design which is more comfortable to use. The screen has full HD display which has good quality. The K8 Plus is powered by the 2.6 GHz octa core Mediatek Helio P20 processor paired with 3/4 GB RAM and Mali-T880 GPU.This Helio P20 processor works efficiently and handles multitasking and heavy games well. The temperatures are also acceptable for extended gaming.
The biggest highlight of the K8 Plus is its cameras. It comes with a dual rear camera setup on the back which includes one 13 MP and one 5 MP camera, both the cameras work simultaneously to click beautiful pictures, the 13 MP camera captures the subject while the 5 MP camera captures additional details and depth and produces bokeh effect. It comes with depth effect which provides lots of options and allows you to cut out the subject and change the background.
The picture quality is very good with accurate colors and high depth of field, and has one of the best cameras at its price. In low light conditions also, it manages to click good images but there can be some noise at times. On the front, there is an 8 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree wide-angle lens and LED flash. The selfies also come out good and beautiful, even at night the selfies are good due to the front flash.
The phone runs on the latest Android 7.1.1 Marshmallow and the good thing here is, Lenovo does not use its Vibe UI anymore and all its smartphones now come with Stock Android. This will ensure a better user experience and probably faster Android updates like its Motorola smartphones. The phone packs a fast fingerprint scanner on the back, it also comes with Dolby Atmos support for better audio experience and also supports Lenovo’s TheatreMax, which provides great VR and 360 degree video experience by allowing you to view your normal videos in VR mode. It also comes with a dedicated music key which allows you to play, pause or change songs without even opening the lock or taking the phone out of pocket.
A great thing is that, the music key is completely customisable and can be set to open any application like camera, clock, maps, etc. if you don’t want to use it for music. The K8 Plus comes with dual sim and 4G, VoLTE support. It comes with 32 GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 128 GB and thankfully uses a dedicated slot for the microSD card and the two sim cards. The phone packs a big 4000 mAh battery which delivers good battery backup and comes with fast charging support.
