Huawei has launched its latest flagship in the new year, the Honor View 10, which packs some amazing specifications. The phone takes things forward from last year’s Honor 8 Pro and is launched as a direct competition to the OnePlus 5T. The Honor View 10 comes in a slim narrow-bezel design which looks beautiful and premium, it has got a matte finish metallic back which feels good in hands. One good thing Huawei has managed with the design, is the fingerprint scanner on the front despite the tall display and slim bezels, a feat which other manufacturers like Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus and even Apple failed to achieve.
The overall build is pretty solid and good looking. The Honor View 10 sports a big 5.99 inches FHD+ display with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio and 403 ppi density. The display quality is very good with accurate colors and nice viewing angles. It is powered by the new 2.36 GHz Octa Core Hisilicon Kirin 970 flagship processor built on 10nm process, it also comes with a dedicated NPU (neural-network processing unit) which helps in AI related tasks. The Honor View 10 comes paired with 6 GB RAM and Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. The performance of the phone is excellent, the processor is one of the best performers in the world and runs everything thrown at it very smoothly.
The phone comes with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, with Huawei’s EMUI 8.0 running on top. The EMUI is very feature rich, modern and well optimised for smooth day to day operations. The Honor View 10 gets a dual camera setup on the rear with a 16 MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 20 MP secondary monochrome sensor for depth and bokeh effects. The picture quality is excellent with natural colors and good exposure, low light performance is also very good. On the front, there is a 13 MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture lens, it again is a very good selfie shooter. The phone produces good bokeh effects for both the front and rear cameras, the camera app also comes with lots of modes, filters, and features.
The Honor View 10 comes with lots of Artificial Intelligence features, which includes Facial Unlock, AI Accelerated Translator, Smart Tips and Apple’s Animoji like tools will soon be released. The fingerprint scanner is very fast and accurate. It packs in 128 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256 GB but uses hybrid slot. The phone is backed by a non-removable 3750 mAh Lithium-Polymer battery which supports fast charging via a 5V/4.5A charger. It uses USB Type-C for data syncing and charging, and also comes with Infrared and NFC for additional communication.
