Gionee has launched its flagship phone of the year at the MWC 2016, dubbed as Gionee S8. The smartphone is priced for EUR 449 (approx. Rs. 34,000).
The Gionee S8 flaunts a 5.5 inch of Full HD (1920 X 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with a pixel density of 401 ppi, 2.5D arc glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It also has a 3D touch pressure sensitive display just like we have previously seen in Apple iPhone 6s, that can sense 3 levels of force including touch to select an app, tap to preview the content of an app, and press to run the app, says the company.
It is powered by 1.95 GHz MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) octa-core processor, coupled with Mali T860MP2 GPU and 4 GB RAM. It comes with 64 GB internal memory, that is expandable up to 128 GB with micro SD cum second Sim slot. The smartphone runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo OS 3.2 on top.
On the photography front, it sports a 16 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/1.8 aperture, RWB technology, 6P lenses, PDAF, and Laser auto focus. It also boasts an 8 megapixel selfie camera on the front. The smartphone has fingerprint sensor integrated into the home button that has response time of just 0.1 seconds and identification time of 0.38 seconds, and features like ‘Dual Whatsapp’ or ‘Dual WeChat’, so that user can have two separate accounts for two Sim. It is packed with a 3000mAh battery with fast charging support.
The Gionee S8 is a dual Sim smartphone that offers connectivity options like 4G LTE/3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS. It measures 154.3×74.9x7mm and weighs 148 grams.
The Gionee S8 will be available by the end of March in Rose Gold, Silver, and Gold color variants.
