General Mobile GM 5 Plus first High-end Android One phone launched at MWC 2016
General Mobile has launched a new smartphone, General Mobile GM 5 Plus. The Android One smartphone is priced for 899 Turkish Lira (US$ 305 / Rs.20,970 approx.) and will be available in Turkey soon.
To remind you, Android One is an initiative by Google to provide minimum set of standards and good user experience in budget phones. It partners with smartphone manufacturers to develop Android One phones and checks quality of the device and hardware while, delivers pure stock Android software experience. Android One phones were first launched in India back in 2014.
The General Mobile GM 5 Plus features a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with 2.5D arc glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor, coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 3 GB RAM. It offers 32 GB internal memory, expandable up to 128GB with microSD. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The GM 5 Plus packs a 13 megapixel camera with LED flash on both front and rear panel. It is backed by a 3100mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity options on the phone includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and USB Type-C.
General Mobile is a Turkish mobile and tablet brand that was established in 2005. The company is also a partner of Google’s Android One initiative.
