The iPhone 6 is Apple’s 2 generations old smartphone which was launched in 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, out of which the 16 GB variant was available around 30000 Rs. for quite some time now but, we never recommended going for the 16 GB variant as it is very low storage and despite having a good phone, you could never use it to the fullest because of running out of space most of the times. But now, Apple has released a new 32 GB variant of the iPhone 6, keeping everything else the same. So the big question is, how good the iPhone 6 is in the lot of some great and powerful Android smartphones? Let’s find out.
First and the most important thing one must remember to understand the iPhones is that, they will never blow away your mind with the spec sheet but are equally capable of handling everything so, we can’t just start comparing this phone with the Android phones out there, iPhones are all about excellent user experience with quality hardware/ software and attention to minute details. The iPhone 6 comes in a beautiful metal unibody design which is extremely well-built and sturdy, at 6.9 mm it is thin and comfortable, however, it is slippery also. It weighs at just 129 grams.
It comes in a 4.7 inches Retina HD (750 x 1334 pixels) display with 326 ppi pixel density and has very good quality, although it is not a Full HD display but it is good. The iPhone 6 runs on the 1.4 GHz Dual Core Apple A8 processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and PowerVR GX6450 GPU, you must be thinking that a Dual core processor and only 1 GB RAM in 2017? Yes, that sounds terribly low but the performance is good, it scores 59,947 in Antutu benchmark v6.2 and can still beat many of the Octa core, 3/4 GB RAM Android phones.
This is possible due to Apple’s tight integration between hardware and the iOS which, because of its fundamental structure and working, needs much lower RAM to function smoothly, you can understand this from Apple’s newest iPhone 7 which still has only 2 GB RAM and a Quad core processor and has one of the best performances in the world. So apart from numbers, the phone runs very smoothly and doesn’t slows down with time, it can also handle heavy gaming very well. Coming to another strength of the phone, its 8 MP rear camera, again don’t go by the numbers, it is excellent and clicks great photos.
When it comes to the front, it has got a 1.2 MP selfie shooter, which again is not as bad as it might sound but honestly, at this price there are much better selfie centric phones so, it’s not for selfie lovers however, if you click selfies occasionally, then it will do the job, it clicks decent/acceptable selfies. Above all these, the best part of the phone is the software which powers it. It runs on Apple’s latest iOS 10.3 which is a great mobile operating system, if you are an iPhone user you know what it is and if you are an Android (it is a great mobile operating system as well) user, you will find it completely different and exciting to use. The iOS 10.3 is very user-friendly, there is Siri, Widgets, Notification center, Control center and more.
You also get some great apps by Apple and some popular iOS exclusive apps as well. The whole experience with the iOS 10.3 and even the UI is very beautiful. You also get a fingerprint scanner situated in the home button below the screen, called as Touch ID. Apart from unlocking the phone, it can be used to authorize purchases from the App store or payments via Apple Pay (not available in India) and is also integrated into many third-party apps for security. The audio via speakers and the headphones is rich and loud. Sadly, it is a single sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. The 32 GB onboard storage is not expandable. The iPhone 6 is backed by a non-removable 1810 mAh battery which delivers around a day’s battery backup with moderate usage.
