Oppo F7 Review:
Oppo, just a few months ago, launched the Oppo F5 selfie-centric smartphone and now they have launched its successor known as the Oppo F7, which is again a selfie-centric smartphone. While the Oppo F5 already came with a bezel-less display, with the Oppo F7, the company has gone one step ahead and used an iPhone X like display with a ‘notch’ on the top, which incorporates the front camera and sensors. This display with a notch, makes the display truly bezel-less and gives the phone a beautiful modern look.
The phone comes in a polycarbonate body with glass back. The Oppo F7 sports a 6.23 inches screen and thankfully, it is a Full HD display! It comes with 19:9 aspect ratio, 405 ppi pixel density and has very good display quality. The screen comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Coming to the biggest highlight of the Oppo F7, which are the big cameras, it comes with a 25 MP f/2.0 aperture front camera with AI Beauty 2.0 added in the camera app. It clicks amazing selfies, while the AI features assist in making your face beautiful. The overall selfie experience with the Oppo F7 is very good however, it doesn’t come with a front LED flash.
On the back, despite the trend of dual cameras, the Oppo F7 only comes with a single 16 MP f/1.8 camera, which is also a very good shooter. It also comes with front & rear camera portrait shots, which identifies your face edges and makes the background blur to produce bokeh effects, although as there is no dual camera setup either on the front or back, it uses software-based algorithms to identify the facial edges, which still isn’t perfect and needs improvements. The phone is powered by a 2.0 GHz Octa Core Mediatek Helio P60 processor, coupled with either 4 GB or 6 GB RAM and Mali-G72 MP3. The performance is good and powerful enough for some gaming and multitasking.
The Oppo F7 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Oppo’s ColorOS 5.0 running on top. The ColorOS comes with lots of added features and customizations but looks wise, it still needs to become more minimalistic. For security, the Oppo F7 comes with a very fast fingerprint scanner situated on the back, it also comes with AI Recognition based Facial unlock, which lets you unlock the phone just by looking at it. The phone comes in two storage variants of 64 GB and 128 GB, both of which are expandable via microSD card. Good thing is, it comes with dedicated slots for both the sim cards. It is backed by a non-removable 3400 mAh Li-Ion battery, which gives a good battery backup.
