Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is coming! Here are the expected specifications, price and everything about the phone
Since, towards the end of October, leaks about the next phone in the Redmi Note series of phones had been doing the rounds on the internet. It was since then, the internet had been talking about, what could be the specifications of the phone. But around a month ago, came a news from Xiaomi’s forums itself that the company had already launched the much awaited Redmi Note 5 as, Redmi 5 Plus.
Since the specs and the looks of the Redmi 5 Plus were very similar to the speculated features of the Redmi Note 5, fans from all over the world, had no other option but to agree with the report. But then again, fresh reports are coming in, that the much-awaited Redmi Note 5 is still in the pipeline and the already launched Redmi 5 Plus won’t be re-branded as the Redmi Note 5. The launch is expected to be sometime in the month of March, after the MWC’18.
One of the main reasons to believe this speculation is that the company is planning to launch new phones, in the second quarter of this year. There will be high-end phones presented by the company, which will supposedly be powered by Qualcomm’s new 845 SoC. The Mi 7 and Mi Mix 3 were being speculated as the next phones to feature the new chipsets. But considering how popular is the Redmi Note series of phones, we can say it with a degree of certainty, that no matter what, there is a next Redmi Note phone in the pipeline.
So all of you out there who have been waiting desperately, for the phone’s launch, here’s what you can expect from the new Redmi Note 5. The Redmi Note 5 which is a successor to the very popular and one of the best selling phones in India, the Redmi Note 4, might feature a 5.99-inch FullView, Full HD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The Redmi Note 5 is expected to feature, either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC or a Snapdragon 636 SoC, clocking at a speed of 2.5 GHz.
Talking about the camera setup on the phone, the Redmi Note 5 is expected to feature a dual camera setup in the rear with a 16 MP primary sensor and a secondary sensor of 5 MP, accompanied with LED flash and a 5 MP camera at the front for selfies and video recording. Along with these, the phone is expected to run on Android 8.0 Oreo, out of the box, supported by MIUI 9 user interface.
The Redmi Note 5 will come in two variants depending on the memory configuration, and they are expected to be 3 GB RAM/ 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM/ 64 GB storage. It will feature a 4,000 mAh battery, chargeable via Type C connector. We tried our best to find out what would be the price tags associated with the phone, but unfortunately enough, there is no leaked information about the prices till now.
So as of now, what we can provide you with, is our best guess of the prices. So going by the pricing trends set by the company at the launch of Redmi Note 4, and based on our best judgment; the 3 GB/32 GB variant might be priced around ₹ 12,999 and at the same time, the 4 GB/64 GB variant might cost around ₹ 14,999 in India.
If the company is actually planning to launch the phone at these prices, one more thing will come into play, the Xiaomi Mi A1, the recently launched Android One smartphone that is doing good in the market. Xiaomi, might not want to compete with its own product but the company will also be aware of the next Moto G6 series phones from Motorola, which will be arriving in the next few months. As, the Moto G6 series is expected to get serious design changes, Xiaomi will need more than a Mi A1 to compete! Looks like they will definitely price the Redmi Note 5 under Rs. 15,000 even if they would love a 16-17k price tag.
