Xiaomi Redmi 4 (3 GB RAM)

After the massive success of the Redmi 3s and 3s Prime smartphones, Xiaomi has launched their successor – the Redmi 4, which comes with many advancements. The new Redmi 4 has become super hit right from its first flash sale where 250,000 units were sold in under 8 minutes. But what makes this phone so popular? Let’s find out.

Xiaomi has been gradually improving the look and feel of its devices in the Redmi series and with the Redmi 4, they have done amazing job with its design and build quality. The phone comes with a full metal unibody design with a 2.5D curved glass on the front. The phone from nowhere feels like a budget phone but instead feels very premium and high quality for its price. It comes with a 5-inches HD display which has decent quality, still a Full HD display would have made the phone perfect.

The Redmi 4 runs on a 1.4 GHz octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor coupled with 2/3/4 GB RAM and Adreno 505 GPU. The performance is good and it handles daily usage and multitasking smoothly. It can also handle games but is not meant for heavy gaming. A great thing in the phone is its huge 4,100 mAh non-removable battery which gives a very good battery backup, Xiaomi has done a commendable job in packing a massive battery in just a 5 inches phone without increasing the phone’s thickness or weight. A bigger battery automatically makes your phone a better device as it reduces your pain to charge it in frequent intervals and also reduces FOSO (Fear of Switching Off)!

The Redmi 4 comes with a 13 MP rear camera with ƒ/2.0 aperture, the picture quality is much improved and the picture quality is pretty good for its price. The 5 MP ƒ/2.2 aperture front camera is also good, Xiaomi has also added real time face filters which makes selfies more fun. The phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow but also includes Android 7.0 Nougat Preview (beta) out of the box so, early birds can also enjoy Nougat before its public version is rolled out. Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 runs on top, although it is resource intensive and heavily customised, it is the best Android ROM from a phone manufacturer, not only it has a lot of useful features like Second space, Dual apps, etc. (more details about the MIUI 8 here) but, it also has a very large user base and a big online community.

The phone packs a very accurate fingerprint scanner on the back and also includes an IR blaster with an inbuilt remote app which lets you control TV, AC, and a lot of devices from your mobile itself. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE and it comes in three storage variants 16/32/64 GB, all of which are expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card but use a hybrid slot so you won’t be able to use dual sim and microSD card simultaneously.
