ZTE Nubia Z11 Mini S Review:
ZTE has launched another lite variant of its flagship ZTE Nubia Z11 called as ZTE Nubia Z11 Mini S. The Nubia Z11 Mini S comes directly in competition with the Moto G5 Plus having price, processor, screen size and a lot more in common. Let’s see how good the phone is. Starting with the design, the Mini S comes with a premium looking metal unibody design. It is compact and comfortable to hold in hands but is a bit slippery. It takes some inspirations from the new iPhone 7 and has same design and placement for the antennas on the back, which look good though. The red glowing home button below the screen looks good as well.
It sports a 5.2 inches Full HD 2.5D curved screen and has good display quality and nice viewing angles. The color reproduction is also good and the software also allows you to set the color temperature as per your liking. The phone runs on the 2.0 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and delivers good lag free day to day usage and handles gaming comfortably without overheating.
Cameras are the biggest highlights of the phone and it packs some big numbers as well. It comes with a 23 MP f/2.0 aperture Sony IMX318 sensor with PDAF. It is a very good shooter, the pictures come out sharp and detailed, the shutter speed is also very fast. The 13 MP front facing camera with Sony IMX258 sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 80 degree wide angle is a pretty good shooter as well. The selfies come out beautiful, there is also a ‘screen flash’ to assist you with low light selfies. The camera app comes with a full professional mode and includes lots of fun and useful modes and filters as well. Overall, it is a very good camera smartphone.
Sadly, the Nubia Z11 Mini S still runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with company’s Nubia 4.0 UI running on top. It offers some additional features like double click on the edge to go back, swipe up/down from the edge to switch or start apps, swipe repeatedly from the edge to free up RAM, swipe from both edges to adjust brightness and swipe up from bottom of the screen to split the screen into two to let you access two apps at the same time. It packs a good fingerprint scanner at the back and uses USB Type-C port for data syncing and charging. It is a dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. It includes big 64 GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 200 GB via microSD card but uses a hybrid slot. It is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery which gives good battery backup (thanks to the processor) but sadly doesn’t support fast charging.
Overall, the ZTE Nubia Z11 Mini S is a good smartphone. It packs good performance and good design. However, the excellent cameras are its biggest highlight. But when you compare it with the similar Moto G5 Plus, it fails to win as a complete package. Still, for selfie lovers wanting a balanced all round smartphone, the Nubia Z11 Mini S can be the best phone under 20000 Rs.
