Xiaomi Mi 5 with Snapdragon 820 and 3 GB RAM launched at Rs. 24,999 in India
As expected, Xiaomi has launched its latest flagship smartphone, Mi 5 at an event in New Delhi, India. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 24,999 and will be available via flash sales, the first flash sale is scheduled for April 6th at 11 AM. The thin metal framed smartphone has ceramic body that was first showcased at MWC 2016.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 5.15 inches Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display with pixel density of 428 ppi, curved 3D Ceramic glass and 600 nits brightness. Under the hood, it has 1.8 GHz Snapdragon 820 64 bit quad-core processor, with it, it becomes the first phone running Snapdragon 820 in India, that is clubbed with Adreno 530 GPU and 3 GB LPDDR4 RAM. It offers 32 GB internal storage (UFS 2.0 that makes it 87% faster than regular one), but does not have microSD slot for expandable storage. The smartphone runs on latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s own MIUI 7 on top.
On the photography front, it sports a 16 megapixel rear camera housing Sony’s latest IMX298 sensor with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF (Phase Detection Auto focus), 4-axis OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), f/2.0 aperture and 4K video recording. It also houses a 4 megapixel front-facing camera with 2 micron pixel and aperture of f/2.0 for selfie lovers. It is backed by a 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support, and features a fingerprint sensor integrated into home button, and an infrared sensor.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is a dual Sim smartphone that offers connectivity options like 4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac dual-band (MIMO), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C. The smartphone measures 144.5 x 69.2 x 7.25mm and weighs 129 grams. It will be offered in black, gold and white color variants. The smartphone also comes with Mi protect for Rs. 499.
Surprisingly, Xiaomi India didn’t launch the 64 GB and 128 GB variant of Mi 5 in India. The 128 GB Mi 5, which also comes with 4 GB RAM could have really given a run for money to other flagship phones but, the announcement of only the 32 GB variant is turning out to be a big disappointment for fans.
