Google with Asus Launches new OnHub Smart Wi-Fi router for $220
Google revealed its first OnHub Wi-Fi router in August with an aim to develop a router that is easy to operate and sends better Wi-Fi signal. Now the company has ventured with Asus and launched its second OnHub router. The new Asus OnHub router is much identical to the earlier one in shape and looks, but it flaunts the OnHub LED ring on bottom and is a little taller.
The new model is offered with some new interesting features, the most prominent one is – hovering of hand over it for boosting the signal and speed of the Router for the connected devices. The Asus OnHub Wi-Fi router is powered by 1.4GHz Dual Core chipset supporting wireless speed up to 1900 Mbps and inherits 7 smart dual-band antennas. It also has many connectivity features – Bluetooth 4.0, 1 LAN port, 1 WAN port USB 3.0 and a proximity sensor.
Google has stated that in the coming week it will be rolling out first software update for the newly launched routers, which will allow to select the best combination of antennas for direct Wi-Fi to the devices. The OnHub routers will automatically receive the update, avoiding any additional work.
The Asus OnHub Smart Wi-Fi router is available for pre-orders in the United States from selected retailers through Google’s website. The router is priced at $219.99 (Approx. Rs. 14,300) that is $20 more than the previous model.
