Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime and J5 Prime launched in India at Rs. 18,790 and Rs. 14,790

As scheduled, Samsung India has officially launched their new J-series smartphone – the Galaxy J7 Prime along with Galaxy J5 Prime in India at a price tag of Rs. 18,790 and Rs. 14,790 respectively. The Galaxy J7 Prime is already available to buy, whereas, the Galaxy J5 Prime is expected to be available from September-end.
As we know, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is an upgraded version of the Galaxy J7 (2016). This new J-series smartphone boasts of a full metal unibody design with a front-mounted fingerprint scanner. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS LCD 2.5D display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The smartphone is powered by a 1.6 GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor coupled with 3 GB of RAM.
The Galaxy J7 Prime sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, auto-focus and LED flash. On the front it sports an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash for Selfie lovers. On the storage part, it comes with 32 GB of internal memory which is further expandable by up to 256 GB via microSD card.
This Dual-Sim 4G LTE smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based TouchWiz UI. The phone is backed by a 3300 mAh battery. Other connectivity options include Micro-USB (with OTG), Bluetooth v4.1, A-GPS and 3.5 mm audio jack.
Talking about Galaxy J5 Prime, it comes with a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display and is powered by 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos CPU coupled with 2 GB RAM. The smartphone packs a 13-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.9 aperture and LED flash, apart from a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. It comes with 16 GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable up to 256 GB via microSD card. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is backed by a 2400 mAh battery. It also houses the fingerprint scanner.
Samsung is focusing on two key features to sell its new Galaxy J smartphones – S Power planning and S Secure. The S Power planning is essentially a battery saving feature that allows users to save the phone’s battery for calls by limiting the running apps. The S Secure feature on the other hand allows users to lock and hide their applications, secure Wi-Fi and create a separate Secure folder for images and applications.
Both the smartphones come in two colour variants – Black and Gold.
