[section label=”8. Gionee S6s”]8. Gionee S6s:
Gionee has recently launched its new selfie focused smartphone Gionee S6s in India. Starting with its design, the phone packs a nice 2.5D curved glass on the front and a solid metallic body but a bit of plastic is used on the top and bottom of the back panel. The phone looks good and fits well in the hands. It sports a 5.5 inches Full HD screen which has very good display quality, it also comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone is powered by a 1.3 GHz Octa Core MediaTek MT6753 Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and delivers good performance suitable for every use although, phones with better performance are available at even lower prices so if high performance is your priority you should give this a miss. The phone runs on the latest Android v6.0 Marshmallow with Gionee’s Amigo UI 3.2 running on top. The USP of the Gionee S6s is its 8 MP front camera which comes with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and 5P lens and can click good quality selfies. It also packs a 13 MP rear camera with single LED flash and PDAF, which also has decent picture quality. The Gionee S6s comes with a fingerprint scanner situated on the back above the new Gionee logo. It is a dual sim phone with 4G support on both the slots. It comes with 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128 GB with the help of a microSD card but sadly uses a hybrid slot so, at a time you can either use the second sim or the microSD card. The phone weighs at 166 grams and has a thickness of 8.3 mm, it cannot be called thick or fat but is a little bulkier compared to the competition. It is backed by a non-removable Li-Po 3150 mAh battery which gives a decent battery backup. Overall, the Gionee S6s is a good complete smartphone, it packs a good design and good selfie camera. However, if we look at the competition around it, most phones offer some or the other thing better than this. It still is a good smartphone and you can go with it if you like it.

[section label=”9. Xiaomi Mi Max”]
9. Xiaomi Mi Max (4GB RAM):
Xiaomi, which is seeing a successful run in the Indian smartphone market, has launched a new smartphone in the new emerging segment – the segment of huge screen smartphones with sizes somewhere between phablets and tablets. The Mi Max sports a massive 6.44 inches Full HD display with 342 ppi pixel density and despite the bigger screen size the display quality and viewing angles are very good. The phone has a beautiful metallic body and comes with a slim form factor with the thickness of just 7.5 mm and because of that, it becomes a lot easier to hold the phone but, it is in no manner built for one handed usage. The phone, despite the huge screen can fit into pockets of most of your normal pants and shirts. The question coming to your minds must be, isn’t the 5.5 inches screen already big? Is there any practical use of this big smartphone? The answer is, Yes, there are many good reasons to own a phone as big as the Mi Max. The obvious benefit is the big screen itself, which provides much more room for the movies, videos, games, apps, books and even your work related documents. Basically, the bigger the screen the more you will enjoy the experience but, it has to be the balance between the advantages and the loss of comfort for the sake of it and Xiaomi claims that it has found the sweet spot at 6.44 inches. And to make the most of the big screen, Xiaomi has added some software improvements like the ‘Quick Ball’ which includes 5 customizable shortcut functions and sticks on top of every screen like the Facebook ‘Chat Heads’, one of the shortcut is the back key, which doubles up the functionality of the capacitive back key so you don’t have to move your thumb much. The Mi Max is powered by the new Octa-core Snapdragon 652 Processor paired with 4 GB RAM and delivers amazing performance and can handle everything. It runs on Android Marshmallow based MIUI. The 16 MP rear and 5 MP front cameras are also more or less the same used in Redmi Note 3, which means they are good but better cameras are available at the same price. It is dual sim phone with 4G support and includes whooping 128 GB storage onboard which can be expanded upto 128 GB but, uses the hybrid slot. The phone packs a fast fingerprint scanner and Infrared sensor. Another good thing about the phone is its huge non-removable 4850 mAh battery which provides good battery backup. Overall, the Mi Max won’t be the right choice for most of the users but those who have fallen in love with the phone’s bigger screen and its advantages and are ready to sacrifice a bit of comfort in handling the phone will not find anything better than this, it is almost perfect for its intended user type. Also, those planning to buy a 7 inches tablet can also settle with this.

[section label=”10. Creo Mark 1″]
10. Creo Mark 1:
Creo, the new smartphone manufacturer based in India has launched its first smartphone the Creo Mark 1. The USP of the phone is the software on which it runs, which is the Fuel OS based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The Fuel OS is the heavily customised version of Android and includes lots of interesting features like Sense (allows you to access anything like music, contacts, etc. in two steps, right from the homescreen), Retriever (if your phone is stolen and a new sim is inserted, it sends an email to you with the no. of the inserted sim, and it works without internet and also after factory reset), Echo (in-built answering machine) and there are lot more. The company also promises to deliver new updates every month which will add new features to the phone, users can also suggest a feature to the company and if their idea is approved, it will be included in the upcoming updates and the user will get credit for that feature. If the UI is concerned, it resembles the stock Android UI. The phone has got a metal body and glass back, it is well built, looks good and feels premium. The company is also allowing users to have their custom engraving on the phone. If we talk about the hardware, it packs some strength here as well. It sports a 5.5 inches 2k display (2560 X 1440 pixels) which has very good quality. The Creo Mark 1 runs on the 1.95 GHz Octa Core MediaTek Helio X10 Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and performs well for heavy usage also. It comes with a 21 MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX230 sensor and clicks good quality images, on the front, it comes with an 8 MP selfie camera with 86 degree wide-angle lens which also produces good images. It is dual sim smartphone with 4G support and comes with 32 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB with the help of a microSD card but uses a hybrid slot. It is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery. Few things, which go against of the Creo Mark 1 is the unavailability of the Fingerprint scanner and at 190 grams it feels heavy. Overall, the Creo Mark 1 adds some very unique features to Android and improves the user experience to a great extent, it also involves you in the development of its ever evolving software and keeps you at centre of it. It can be a good choice.
