QiKU, the new Chinese company which entered India is the joint venture of Coolpad and Qihoo 360 (popular for its 360 antivirus). Starting with the design, it has got a very premium & beautiful metallic body with a sturdy build quality. With 6 inches screen, it must be a massive phone but it isn’t that big because of amazing 83% screen to body ratio and very slim bezels around the screen. If you have seen the 5.5 inches iPhone 6/6s Plus, the QiKU Q Terra 808 is almost of the similar size but, with 185 grams of weight it is heavy. The 6 inches screen comes with Full HD display with good quality. It runs on 2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and delivers very good performance. The phone features two 13 MP rear cameras, one with Sony’s IMX278 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 6P Lens and 4K video recording capability and other with Sony’s IMX214 sensor used to capture DOF (Depth of Field). Overall, there is no doubt it is a very powerful smartphone with excellent features and great cameras but, as the company is new entrant in India, only risk taking buyers should go with it, for now.
[label variation=”label-danger”]New[/label] [section label=”10. LYF Earth 1″]
10. LYF Earth 1:
LYF is the new smartphone brand from Reliance, which is launched on the sidelines of entry of Reliance Jio with its 4G services in the Indian market and the LYF Earth 1 is the flagship of the four devices launched till now. The LYF Earth 1 has got a glass and metal build where, there is glass on both the front and rear sides and there is metallic frame in between, it looks decent and feels good. On the right side, it includes the volume rockers and the power button and, surrounding the power button there is beautiful notification light available in multiple colors. It has got a 5.5 inches Full HD screen which has good display quality. It runs on a 1.5 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM, it can perform well for normal usage and light gaming but for heavy usage there are much better phones at this price. The LYF Earth 1’s USP is on its back, where two rear cameras are situated. It comes with a 13 MP main rear camera which captures the images and there is another 2 MP camera which simultaneously captures the Depth of Field, it can be later used to change the focus of the image once it is clicked, using the built-in Re-Focus feature. While the 13 MP rear camera has decent picture quality, the 2 MP camera and the Re-Focus feature do not accurately do the job, which they are meant for. On the front, it has a 5 MP selfie shooter and a LED flash. The phone runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with almost the stock Android UI, it is clean and simple. It is dual sim phone with 4G and VoLTE support. It packs 32 GB of onboard storage which is further expandable upto 32 GB using a microSD card but, it has a hybrid slot. It is backed by a non-removable Li-Po 3500 mAh battery which does a good job. If we talk about the shortcomings, despite a Rs. 20,000 price tag the LYF Earth 1 misses out on the Fingerprint sensor which is a trend in even Rs. 10,000 smartphones nowadays and it also misses out on the Infrared Blaster. Overall, the LYF Earth 1 doesn’t deliver anything new or cutting edge at a price point and in the market where every player is offering some serious attention towards the user’s need. Not a good buy.
