To regain its lost grounds in the budget segment, Samsung has launched its new Galaxy On5 and On7 in India. The Galaxy On7 is the more powerful out of the two and makes a better proposition so let’s talk about it. Starting with the design, the Galaxy On7 has the typical Samsung design with plastic build. It has a leather like textured back panel and beautiful metal-like plastic edges on the sides, the build quality is decent. It sports a 5.5 inches TFT screen with HD resolution, turning out a 267 ppi pixel density. The display quality is decent but far better displays are available at this price. The Galaxy On7 is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quad Core Processor coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM and gives a good lag free performance. It features a 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera and like other Samsung phones, the picture quality of both the cameras is good. The phone runs on Android v5.1 with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI running on top of it. Samsung has revamped the Touchwiz UI, it is now optimized, looks beautiful and comes with less bloatware. The phone supports 4G on both the sim slots. It comes with 8 GB of internal storage which should have been atleast 16 GB, however it is expandable upto 128 GB via microSD card. A good thing about the phone is its big 3000 mAh removable battery, the phone is not very resource intensive and thus it delivers good battery backup. Overall, the Galaxy On7 packs all the necessary features & good cameras but in terms of performance it is far behind from what the competition is offering at the same price but, it still can be a good choice if you have normal usage and specially want a Samsung phone for its reliability and after sales service. The Canvas 5 runs on the 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6753 Octa Core Processor paired with 3 GB RAM and delivers good performance. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and the company has promised Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the phone. Micromax has installed lots of bloatware on the phone but most of them can be uninstalled. It features a 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera and both come with a LED flash and deliver good picture quality. The camera app also comes with lots of settings and choices to let you customize your photos the way you want. It comes with a cool ‘Picture-in-Picture’ feature which clicks pictures with the front and rear camera at the same time in a single image. It is a dual sim smartphone with 4G support. On the back, the placement of two cameras and the LED Flash in between them looks amazing, the power button & volume rockers are placed very nicely on the side of the phone, the power button also has breathing light for notifications which looks very stylish. The phone feels very premium and scores full marks in design. The XOLO Black sports a 5.5 inches Full HD display with 403 ppi pixel density and the display is awesome. It runs on 1.5 GHz Octa-Core 64-bit 2nd Gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Processor coupled with 3 GB RAM (XOLO has upgraded the RAM from 2 GB to 3 GB recently), it has good performance and the phone can handle mid level games well although it lags a little in heavy games. The best part of the phone is the dual camera setup on the rear. The Xolo Black has two rear cameras of 13 MP & 2 MP and both work simultaneously, the 13 MP camera captures the subject while the 2 MP camera is used to capture the Depth and the final image is the combination of both. The rear camera comes with features like fast focus (0.15 sec), Ubifocus™ (you can change the focus after clicking images) & ChromaFlash™ (snaps two shots, one with flash and one without). These features promise a lot and the picture quality is good but could have been even better. The 5 MP front camera also comes with front LED Flash. It runs on latest Android 5.0 Lollipop with beautiful HIVE UI on top of it. The phone has a 3200 mAh battery which gives good battery backup. Overall, the Xolo Black is a very good package, it has a great design and good features and can be another good buying choice. If you want a smaller phone, you can also go with the XOLO Black 1x with 5 inches screen and priced at Rs. 8,499 .

InFocus the American company which has partnered with Foxconn to produce its smartphones has recently entered in India with some correctly priced quality smartphones spread across every budget price segment. The InFocus M810 is another interesting product from the company. It comes with a stunning metallic design with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 covering the front and the back of the phone, it has a thickness of just 6.9 mm. The phone’s design is very premium and detailed, the circular power button of the phone looks very beautiful. It has got a 5.5 inches Full HD screen with 401 ppi pixel density. A great thing about the phone is, it comes with the 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 Processor, which needs no introduction. It is immensely powerful and is well-respected. The phone comes with 2 GB RAM.
