Xiaomi had launched its Redmi 4 budget smartphone last month in India. It has been just over one month since the smartphone went for sale and the company already has a success story to tell. As per Xiaomi, it has sold 1 million Redmi 4 smartphone units in India within 30 days. This is yet another achievement for the company after the Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4A saw the same amount of popularity.
The smartphone first went for sale from 23rd May via Amazon through flash sales and was also available on Mi.com thereafter. The Xiaomi Redmi 4 comes in three different variants, one with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage, priced at Rs. 6,999, another with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, priced at Rs. 8,999 and finally the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage variant, priced at Rs. 10,999.
With this, Redmi 4 also broke the record of Redmi Note 4 which took 45 days to sell 1 million units. Earlier to this, Xiaomi, emphasizing the popularity of the smartphone, had also announced that it has sold over 250,000 units of its Redmi 4 smartphones within 8 minutes in its first online sale in India. Apart from this, Xiaomi also confirmed that the smartphone will be sold via offline stores as well, which will further boost its sales in India.
Talking about the specifications of Redmi 4, it sports a 5 inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display with 2.5D curved glass on top. The device is powered by a 1.4 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 435 processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. The smartphone comes with 2/3/4 GB RAM along with 16/32/64 GB internal storage options which can be further expanded via microSD card. The smartphone holds a 13 MP rear camera whereas a 5 MP front camera and packs a massive 4100 mAh battery for its powering.
The reason for Xiaomi’s success are its budget smartphones which have a lot to offer at very affordable prices, and this is exactly what majority of buyers in India are looking for. At present, Xiaomi is at 2nd position in India when it comes to the smartphone market, but if it continues to go by the same pace, Xiaomi could even grab the first place soon.
