Xiaomi Mi 5X with Dual-rear cameras, Snapdragon 625 and 4 GB RAM launched in China

Xiaomi, as it was scheduled has launched its Mi 5X smartphone at an event in China. The smartphone comes with quite worthy specifications considering its budget friendly price. Also the premium highlight here is that the smartphone will be running on Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 which is the latest version of MIUI and was highly anticipated. The Xiaomi Mi 5X is priced at 1499 yuan (Rs. 14,300 approx.) and will be available for sale in China from August 1st in Black, Gold and Rose Gold colors.

The smartphone sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD LTPS display with 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by a 2.0 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with Adreno 506 GPU. The device comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage which is further expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card. For time being the Mi 5X is running on Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 8 but it will soon start running on MIUI 9 after the upgrade.

In the imaging department, the smartphone holds a dual rear camera setup at the back with a 12 MP, f/2.2 aperture, wide angle lens and another 12 MP, f/2.6 aperture lens, telephoto lens. The rear camera is accompanied with a dual-tone LED flash and comes with a Portrait Mode for bokeh effects similar to some recent flagships with dual rear cameras. There is also a 5 MP front camera with real-time beautification.

The Mi 5X packs a 3,080 mAh battery to power itself and has also got a rear mounted fingerprint scanner. The device also works well with its audio output as it comes with DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm and a standalone audio amplifier for improved quality through headphones.

The connectivity options include, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS, USB Type-C and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The smartphone also comes with an Infrared Sensor along with other on-board sensors such as accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. The device measures 155.4 x 75.8 x 7.3 mm and weighs 165 grams.
