Xiaomi claims to have sold 5 million Redmi Note 4 smartphone in 6 months

Xiaomi has recently been making a lot of announcements about its success stories in India. The company has indeed seen an immense success in the country with its high end smartphones that are available at a budget price. One such smartphone is the Redmi Note 4 which became highly popular amongst Indian buyers and according to a new announcement from Xiaomi, the company has sold over 5 million Note 4 units in the country in just 6 months.

The Managing Director of Xiaomi for India, Manu Kumar Jain recently revealed the fact through a tweet which reads, “: 5M units sold within 6 months of launch (23 Jan-23 July). Broke all records to become No. 1 selling smartphone in Q1 & Q2 (1/4).” Apart from this, Redmi Note 4 also is the No. 1 selling smartphone in Q1 and Q2 of 2017 where it has a total 7.2% market share in Q2.


Xiaomi has been creating a lot of success stories lately, and also recently became the 5th largest smartphone company in the world. The company stands 5th in terms of both, Global smartphone shipments as well as the market share. During Q2 2017, Xiaomi’s global smartphone shipments grew 58 percent year-on-year to 23.2 million taking it to the 5th spot. With the help of its immensely popular budget smartphones, especially in India, the company was able to acquire 6 percent of global smartphone marketshare.

Coming back to the Redmi Note 4, the main reason for its popularity is the presence of high-end specifications at a pocket friendly price. The smartphone sports a 5.5-inch 1080 pixel display, a 2.0 GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8.0 running on top. It has a 13 MP f/2.0 aperture rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. It bears a 4,100 mAh battery and finger print sensor at the back. The smartphone has 4G VoLTE, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS and GLONASS for its connectivity.
