Sony unveiled two new smartphones – Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact at IFA earlier this month. The Xperia XZ was available for pre-registrations in India on Sony’s official website since last week. Today, Sony has launched this flagship smartphone in India at a price tag of Rs. 51,990. It will go on sale in India from October 10th.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Xperia XZ sports a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. The processor is paired with 3 GB of RAM.
On the photography front, the Xperia XZ houses a 23-megapixel rear camera with Exmos RS sensor, 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.0 lens, Predictive Hybrid AF, 5-axis stabilization, and 4K video recording. It also has a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with 1/3” Exmor RS sensor and 1080p video recording. It comes with 64 GB of inbuilt storage which can be further expanded up to 256 GB via microSD card slot (Hybrid slot).
The device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow which is expected to get Android 7.0 Nougat update soon. It is IP68 certified making it dust proof and water-resistant over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes. It is backed by a 2900 mAh battery with Qnovo’s Adaptive Charging technology and Quick Charge 3.0 support. With Sony UCH12W quick charger, the Xperia XZ is rated to deliver 5.5 hours of talk time in just 10 minutes of charge.
The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the iconic power button of Sony on the right edge of the device. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G LTE with VoLTE support on both the sim, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz / 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type-C. It measures 146 x 72 x 8.1 mm and weighs 161 grams.
The Sony Xperia XZ comes in Forest Blue, Mineral Black and Platinum colour variants.
