Samsung announced two variants of the Samsung Gear S3 Smartwatch – Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier at IFA 2016 in Berlin, last year. Today, the company has sent out invites for the launch of Gear S3 in India on 10th January.
The Samsung Gear S3 Classic has a very formal design, whereas the Gear S3 Frontier has a more rugged design. On the specifications front, both the variants bear the same specs. The Gear S3 smartwatch sports a 1.3-inch (360×360 pixels) Circular Super AMOLED Always On display with pixel density at 278ppi. It is powered by 1 GHz of dual core processor, coupled with 768 MB of RAM and has 4 GB of internal storage.smartwatch that runs on Tizen OS.
The Gear S3 is IP68 Certified dust and water-resistant and supports 3G/4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, MST, and A-GPS/Glonass. The Gear S3 features sensors like an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, and barometer. Both these have built-in speaker for activate voice messaging and music listening. It is packed with a 380mAh Li-ion battery with wireless charging (WPC Inductive) and promises four days of battery life.
