Samsung has announced two variants of the new Samsung Gear S3 Smartwatch – Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier at IFA 2016 in Berlin, as promised. The Tizen OS based smartwatch will be available from October.
The Samsung Gear S3 Classic has a very formal design, whereas the Gear S3 Frontier has a more rugged design. On the specifications front, both the variants bear the same specs. The Gear S3 smartwatch sports a 1.3-inch (360×360 pixels) Circular Super AMOLED Always On display with pixel density at 278ppi. It is powered by 1 GHz of dual core processor coupled with 768 MB of RAM and has 4 GB of internal storage.smartwatch that runs on Tizen OS.
The Gear S3 is IP68 Certified dust and water resistant and supports 3G/4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, MST, and A-GPS/Glonass. The Gear S3 features sensors like an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, and barometer. It is packed with a 380mAh battery with wireless charging (WPC Inductive) and promises four days of battery life.
The Gear S3 Classic is priced at $299 (approx. Rs. 20,000), whereas the pricing details of the Gear S3 Frontier has not been announced yet.
