Samsung, today has announced the 2017 variant of its Galaxy On NXT smartphone which was launched last year. The only upgrade in the 2017 edition is regarding the internal storage which has been raised to 64 GB from 32 GB. Apart from this, the Galaxy On NXT (2017) bears all the specifications similar to the 2016 edition. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 16,990 and will be available exclusively via Flipkart from 12 AM tonight itself.
The Galaxy On NXT (2017) sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and has got an octa core Exynos 7870 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz under the hood, coupled with Mali-T830 GPU. The smartphone comes with 3 GB and as earlier mentioned 64 GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256 GB via microSD card. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The imaging department includes a 13 MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and a single LED flash along with 8 MP f/1.9 aperture front camera for selfies. For connectivity there is Dual SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, micro USB port and FM Radio. The Galaxy On NXT holds a fingerprint scanner along with on board sensors such as Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Ambient light sensor etc. The device holds a 3,300 mAh battery and measures 75 x 151.7 x 8 mm with 167 grams of weight.
Considering the current competition and the brand reputation of Samsung, the company could have given some more upgrades to the smartphone, at least with the RAM, processor or Android Nougat. That being said, it is a matter of time before we know if the smartphone is able to make its hold in the market with other budget smartphones present around (which is highly unlikely to happen).
