Over 250,000 units of Xiaomi Redmi 4 smartphones sold in under 8 minutes in India

Xiaomi has announced that it has sold over 250,000 units of its Redmi 4 smartphones in its first online sale in India today. The smartphone was launched in India last week and was up for sale today on Amazon and Mi.com starting at Rs. 6,999. Xiaomi with a tweet today informed about the success of Redmi 4 smartphone, thanking all the Mi fans in the country.

This is not the first time when Xiaomi has seen such type of success in India. Prior to Redmi 4 it was the Redmi 4A smartphone which was sold in a blink. Xiaomi had sold over 250,000 Redmi 4A smartphones in 4 minutes when it went for sale in March. Also earlier this year, 2.5 lakh units of Redmi Note 4 were sold as well in just about 10 minutes.

The reason for Xiaomi’s success are its budget smartphones which have a lot to offer at very affordable prices, and this is exactly what majority of buyers in India are looking for. Apart from this, bringing the smartphones for sale for a limited period of time via flash sales is also one the reasons for the rapid increase in sale of Xiaomi smartphones. At present Xiaomi is at 2nd position in India when it comes to the smartphone market, but if it continues to go by the same pace, Xiaomi could even grab the first place soon.

Talking about the Redmi 4, it sports a 5 inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display with 2.5D curved glass on top. The device is powered by a 1.4 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 435 processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. The smartphone comes with 2/3/4 GB RAM along with 16/32/64 GB internal storage options which can be further expanded via microSD card. The smartphone holds a 13 MP rear camera whereas a 5 MP front camera and packs a massive 4100 mAh battery for its powering.
