OnePlus 5T

After confirming to the various rumours & leaks on internet, the CEO of OnePlus – Pete Lau confirmed that they are soon going to launch a new phone & successor to the OnePlus 5, namely, OnePlus 5T. The company CEO didn’t state the exact launch date of the phone. But according to various rumours and by going with the previous launches from the company, it can be confirmed that it is going to be Amazon exclusive in India.

Putting end to most of the rumours & leaks, the smartphone surfaced on GFXbench recently. The phone was spotted with the name A5010 on GFXbench, revealing most of its specifications. As per the GFXbench listing, the phone is going to have flagship level specs which include current top-of-line chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 835. It also suggests that going by the latest trends of minimal bezels, OnePlus 5T is also going to have the minimum bezel design with 18:9 aspect ratio. The speculated 6-inch screen on the smartphone, sporting a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, is a significant improvement over the previous generation phone.

After various tweets from the company’s CEO Pete Lau, it can be confirmed that the phone will sport a 3.5 mm headphone jack, which many flagship phones are skipping these days. It is highly anticipated and can also be confirmed from the listing on GFXbench that the phone will sport dual cameras at back & an upgraded front camera. The dual cameras at the back are stated to be a 20 MP + 16 MP setup, with second lens being a telephoto one. The front camera is expected to have a resolution of 16 MP or 20 MP. If rumours are to be believed and also going by the popular trend in recent smartphones, the camera could have AI capabilities too which will enable excellent Bokeh effects and who knows, OnePlus might introduce something like Apple’s Face ID!

The phone is likely to come in two variants with configuration of 6 GB/ 8 GB RAM and with internal storage of 64 GB/ 128 GB. The phone is likely to run on OxygenOS based on Android Nougat 7.1.1. But it would be pretty good if the company ships the phone with latest Oreo update out of the box. If rumours are to be believed, the phone may have little higher battery capacity than previous generations. It will have the proprietary Dash Charging technology, which is an excellent fast charging solution from the company.

We are still unaware of the exact launch date of the OnePlus 5T but, going by the increasing leaks and rumours every day, we can expect it to be launched any time soon. However, a recent tweet from the company indicates that the phone is going to be launched in New York first & later in other countries. Some rumours suggests that the launch date maybe November 16, 2017.
