The name for OnePlus’s next flagship device has some what been confirmed. The smartphone will be called OnePlus 5, skipping out ‘four’ from the counting. The previous smartphone from the company was OnePlus 3T and the next phone being 4th generation should have technically been named OnePlus 4. However, the smartphone is spotted on Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology site with a model number A5000 which suggests that the smartphone will be named as OnePlus 5. This can be by far safely assumed, as its predecessors OnePlus 3T had a model number A3010 and OnePlus 3 had model number A3000.
Tipster Roland Quandt has put out a tweet which contains the listing of the smartphone on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information database. It is certain that all the rumours about the smartphone being named as OnePlus 5 are coming out to be true. Also it is justified, as the number ‘4’ is considered bad luck in China, so the Chinese manufacturer has decided to skip it from the counting.
There have been few more leaks about the OnePlus 5 previously, which indicate that the smartphone is coming with quite impressive specifications and will be surely the best from OnePlus by far. As per the rumours, the smartphone will boast a massive 8 GB RAM along with Snapdragon 835 SoC and the Adreno 540 GPU. The device comes with an internal storage of up to 256 GB and will hold a 3,000 mAh battery for its powering.
If were to look at the camera, the smartphone is expected to come with Dual rear camera setup having a 23MP lens and features like OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and Optical Zoom along with a 16 MP front camera. The OnePlus 5 is said to bear a 5.5 Quad HD display with bezzel-less design.
Although there isn’t a official confirmation about the launch date of the smartphone but it is expected to hit the markets during Q2 2017, hence we might see it launching before June this year.
